How to get to Mestia

Travel options include minibuses departing from the Didube bus station and, if the weather permits, the Tbilisi-Mestia flight organized by Vanilla Sky. For those seeking a cheaper route, the Tbilisi-Zugdidi train, followed by a minibus or taxi from Zugdidi to Mestia, offers an alternative. Additionally, minibuses connecting Kutaisi and Batumi to Mestia provide alternative routes.

Things to do in Mestia

Beyond the thrill of skiing, Mestia offers a plethora of winter activities. Snowshoeing becomes a delightful venture, with numerous hiking trails beckoning adventure-seekers. Notable among these is the hike to Cloudbase hut, leading to the enchanting Koruldi lakes. For an exceptional day trip, embark on the Mestia to Ushguli route, a winter odyssey with options to visit captivating villages like Lakhiri, Jhabeshi, Tsvirmi and Adishi on the way.

Mestia also offers variety of festivals. Gemofest is a famous culinary festival which will be held in Mestia in February. Moreover, in February festival Lamproba is held as well. This a festival when locals lit the fire on graves of their deceased family members or relatives in memory of their souls. The festival is one of the most beautiful ones in the whole country.

Where to eat in Mestia

Mestia boasts an array of delightful restaurants where visitors can savor authentic Georgian specialties. Café Laila, situated in the city center, not only offers delectable food but also hosts enchanting Georgian folk events in the evenings. The Posta Hotel, centrally located, stands out with its excellent restaurant and evening folk events as well. To drink and have some fun Twin Peaks bar is a very nice option. Moreover, restaurant at the hotel Old House Mestia located in Lanchvali district offers best food with very good views.

Choosing the right place to stay is crucial, and Mestia has some gems. The hotel Old House Mestia, owned by the Goshteliani family, perched on a hill between 12th-century towers in Lanchvali district, offers awe-inspiring views, delectable cuisine, and a vibrant atmosphere. Posta hotel, in the town center, not only impresses with its aesthetics but also features a refreshing water pool. Lahili hotel, with its panoramic views of Mestia's towers, combines stunning design with comfort. Hotels listed are all good but still the tourists’ favorite is Old House Mestia.
