If you are looking for interesting private tours in Georgia Caucasus this is one of the best ones. This is an adventure and sightseeing tour to the regions of Samegrelo, Imereti and Svaneti. Main focus of the tour is Svaneti region but throughut the tour guests will visit Kutaisi as well as Martvili canyon and Enguri hydropower station in Samegrelo region as well.
Day 1 - head from Tbilisi to Martvili canyon. The road will take around four hours but it is definitely worth it. The canyon is beautiful with awesome waterfalls and nice viewpoints. This is more a sightseeing place and guests will not experience real hikes on this day. After visiting the canyon tourists will visit an awesome winery that offers Megrelian and Imeretian summer style, light wines and awesome Megrelian dishes. For your information Samegrelo region is known for the best food in the whole country. After lunch guests will continue to the road to Kutaisi. Later in the evening guests can have a small walk in the town. Overnight in Kutaisi.
Day 2 - after breakfast at a hotel in Kutaisi the tour will continue to Ushguli, Svaneti region via Zagaro pass. First guests will head to Lechkhumi and Qvemo Svaneti regions and only after Lentekhi, the largest town in Qvemo Svaneti region, starts beautiful pass which due to heavy snowfall is closed for 5-6 months a year. Guests will get to Ushguli in less then three hours and the drive is very beuatiful. Ushguli itself is one of the most beautiful villages in the whole country with beaituful views on the highest mountain in Georgia called Shkhara. Moreover, Usghuli is the highest permanent settlement in Europe with the elevations of 2100 meters above the sea level. Ushguli offers beatiful views, 11th century historical towers with Machubis, historical houses in Svaneti, attached to the towers. Moreover, there is a beautiful La Maria (St. Mary) church in Svaneti with 11th century frescoes. Hiking in Ushguli is a beautiful experience with several options like Shkhara glacier, summer residence of King Tamar and Namkvami lake. Skhara glacier is an easy hike and considering the fact that the hike has to be done on the same day as the drive from Kutaisi to Ushguli it is a resaonable choice. First you drive from Ushguli towards Shkhara glacier for 10kms and after that you hike. The hike two ways takes little bit more than two hours and is definitely worth the effort. Guests will see the Shkhahra mountain and the glacier from which the river Enguri starts. On finishing the hike guests will head to the guesthouse where they will have dinner and stay overnight.
Day 3 - after breakfast head to Mestia, the largest and the most important town of Svaneti region. Before getting to Mestia there is the possibility to explore several beautiful villages between Ushguli and Mestia. After getting to Mestia the guests will take a cable car up to Zuruldi mountain and enjoy the beautiful views on Ushba mountain. After the sightseeing guests will check in at the beautiful hotel with the best views both on the mountains and on the historical towers. Later in the evening guests can have a walk in the town and visit the Ethnographic musesum not far from the hotel. Overnight in Mestia
Day 4 - after breakfast head to Becho gorge, a beautiful place 20kms from Mestia. Becho gorge is home to one of the most beautiful Shtugra waterfalls. This hike two ways lasts more than three hours. The beginning of the hike is easy while you walk in the forest, between and under the pine trees. The landscape rises gradually and is quite steep in the end. However the scenery is definitely worth the effort. The waterfall is beautiful while the fresh and cold air that blows is very refreshing. After the hike guests wil have lunch at the cafe and can also enjoy the swim in a cold lake next to the lunch place. After getting back to Mestia national museum can be visited. Overnight in Mestia
Day 5 - head from Mestia to Tbilisi via Zugdidi. Before getting to Zugdidi visit Enguri dam and enjoy the views on the 300 meter high wall as well as the beautiful lake. After enjoying the scenery you can also watch a small movie describing the construction process of the dam during the Soviet times. Lunch stop will be done in Zugdidi, the main city of Samegrelo region, which is famous for awesome food. After lunch head to Tbilisi and the drive will take more than 4 hours.
